Confirmation Offering

As part of their preparation, the Confirmation Group at St Teresa's, Ashford always raises money for good causes. This year Let The Children Live! was one of their charities and on the day of their confirmation the group presented Pauline Allan, the charity's Administrator, with a cheque for £610.  Well done to the young people of St Teresa's and many thanks from the young people of Funvini in Medellín, Colombia!

Marathon Man Will raises £731

Running his first full Marathon, Will Hollingsworth finished the London Marathon in 5 hours and 10 minutes, and raised £731 for Let The Children Live! and its work with children from the streets and shanty-towns of Colombia. Will, who had previously run 6 half marathons, had worked hard gathering sponsors—103 altogether—so collecting in the money was quite a job but he managed to do it very quickly and on May 25th he travelled from Bath over to the charity's shop in Walsingham in order to present the cheque in person.

Almost all Will's sponsorship was Gift Aided, so this means that the final total, with Gift Aid added on, will be £908.75.

Well Done Will and a big

   'Thank You!'

   from our children in

          Colombia.

Who will follow Will's example and raise some money for us at this very difficult time?

                                                                   Will you???

You don't have to run a marathon……….there are plenty of other ways………… and every penny raised will help us save a child from the violence of the streets and shanty-towns of Medellín.

Invitations Needed.

Father Peter will be visiting the UK in June/July in order to fundraise for our work. We urgently need two RC Parishes who would welcome him to make Appeals on June 25th-26th and July 2nd-3rd. If you can help, please ring 01302 858369 or e-mail us.

Royal Wedding Celebrations at Casa Walsingham

There have always been very strong links between Britain and our children in Colombia so it was most unlikely that the Royal Wedding would pass unnoticed. Indeed, far from it! The children at Casa Walsingham and Casa Bannatyne have been aware of it for some time and have been praying for Prince William and Catherine. So, yesterday, Casa Walsingham was the venue for great festivities as our staff and children joined in with the celebrations taking place in the UK. These photos show some of the excitement and happiness that they shared.

St Julian’s Sponsored Walk.

More than 20 adults and children from St Julian's, in Newport joined in a Sponsored Walk on April 9th—accompanied by at least one sponsored dog who raised £95! The group, led by Paulette Brown, chairman of the charity's Trustees, were blessed with beautiful weather and thoroughly enjoyed their day. They hope to raise at least £750, as this will then be matched by Barclays Bank and make a grand total of £1,500.

Day of Prayer at Casa Walsingham.

Day of Prayer at Casa Walsingham

As happened last year, March 19th, St Joseph's Day, was marked as a Day of Prayer by the children and staff of Funvini in Medellín. They all spent time during the day praying before the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel at Casa Walsingham. They were praying that the charity might receive the resources it needs for its work. Fr Peter, who is in the UK fundraising at the moment, joined in the campaign by observing the day with prayer and fasting. The children know that the work of Funvini in Colombia–and therefore their own welfare– depends upon Let The Children Live! being able to raise enough money in Britain and beyond. They also know that at the moment funds are very hard to come by due to the difficult world economic situation and the low value of the British pound. Nevertheless, they have faith that Our Lord will hear their prayers and send them the help they need by touching the hearts of our supporters in the UK and around the world.

Below you can see photographs of them at prayer in the chapel at Casa Walsingham.
