Will Runs Again!

Will Hollingsworth started running 5 or 6 years ago. He started out running 1.5 miles and ended up running the London Marathon for Let The Children Live! in 2011. It didn't take him 5 years to build up from 1.5 to 26 miles, but it did take him that long to win a free place in the Marathon. It's not easy to get a place in the London Marathon and it took Will 5 attempts but he stuck at it until he got his place, and he raised £713 for our children in Colombia. He applied again for this year's race but unfortunately didn't get a place, so he decided to run the Bath Half-Marathon instead. And here he is………..

Gallant Philip!

Mr Philip Palmer may have passed his 60th birthday but that doesn't mean he's settling for an easy life. After hearing Fr Peter speak at St Jude's Church in Peterborough in July, he decided that he just had to do something to raise money for Let The Children Live! and promptly thought of a parachute jump!! ( As you do when you reach 60!! ) So, on Saturday October 1st the gallant Philip will be making a tandem jump at Sibson Airfield, Warsford, near Peterborough, and hoping to raise a lot of money for the charity through sponsorship. If you feel you would like to be part of his great adventure by sponsoring him please contact me ( Pauline Allan ) on 01302 858369.

Ross Kemp in Medellín

To get just a glimpse of the violence of life in Medellín, where our work is based, google 'Ross Kemp Medellín' and you will be directed to the programme 'Ross Kemp–Gangs' on Youtube. This was made in 2007 but it gives some idea of the background against which we work and the fate from which we are trying to rescue at least some of the city's children—but only 'some idea', because in the 4 years since the programme was made the situation has deteriorated and is, today, much worse. The more money we have, the more children we can help. We know that any children we have to abandon due to lack of money will be prime targets for these gangs to recruit and turn into young killers.

Moor Park Primary School, Bispham

When Fr Peter visited Moor Park Primary School on June 13th he made such an impression on the children that many of them wrote their thoughts down on paper and presented them to him before he left. They were very moved to learn about the plight of the children in Colombia and many said how fortunate they were to have homes and families that loved them. Here you can see some of the letters.
