When Pat Field, the Manageress of our shop in Walsingham, wrote to Cash In The Attic, she really had no idea if anything would come of it and when she heard nothing she thought that was that; until the phone call. Out the blue she and husband Bernard were contacted by the programme makers, who had been let down by the scheduled people and wanted to know if they could come to Walsingham, to film a programme, in two days’ time!
Nothing daunted, Pat and Bernard said’ ‘Yes!’ and so on the appointed day the Teamarrived and proceeded to take over first their house, and then our shop.
‘It was chaos,’ said Pat, ‘but great fun, and the team were so kind, enthusiastic and supportive of the charity and its work.’
Once the items to be auctioned had been sorted out, a date and venue for the auction had to be fixed. March 10th, at Aylesham, was the chosen date. Pat and Bernard were there, together with a group of supporters from Walsingham.
‘The sale went extremely well,’ said Bernard, ‘and the items raised £700, which was far more than we expected.’
To round the programme off, the producer wanted to film Fr Peter talking to Pat in the shop and the date suggested was March 15th. It happened that Fr Peter had planned to be in Walsingham on that very day and so the filming was able to go ahead.
